Kallan Burns daily double win at Magic Millions
Snappy stallion Kallan Burns won the top fashion prize for the second week running – in the same outfit. The faux pas shocked the fashion elite and left many pondering if Mr Burns chose to push the envelope or decided to stick to his lucky outfit. But Mr Burns, a staffer at Gold Coast Suns AFL club, says he simply wanted a practice run before the main event. “I was originally planning on entering at Magic Millions but my girlfriend Chloe Marshall was entering on Ladies Day and told me to go in to boost my confidence,” he said. “I rang and made sure I was allowed to wear the same outfit twice and wouldn’t have entered if I wasn’t as I didn’t want to get another outfit.”
Mr Burns proudly won the Magic Millions Ladies Cup Race Day male prize on January 4 for his raspberry-coloured Politix blazer, pork pie hat and whimsical bow tie. Judges for the competition run by the Gold Coast Turf Club praised his quirky sense of style in the 41C heat. A week later he was back at the turf club for the Magic Millions 2014 Myer Fashions of the Field competition where he won again. The two victories saw him walk away with a massive prize haul including a weekend for two at the Oracle, an overnight stay at our hotel, a $1000 Myer voucher and a $1000 Calleija Jewellery prize. Myer ambassador and guest judge Kris Smith said Mr Burns’ outfit was proof Gold Coast men were stepping up in the fashion stakes.
