ASTON SHUFFLE AT ELSEWHERE

Feb 10, 2014  ·  2 min read

By Benjamen Judd

Canberra house duo, The Aston Shuffle, are coming to the Gold Coast this coming Valentines Day so prepare to get your love on along with your dancing shoes. They will be playing at the iconic Elsewhere Bar down on Cavill Avenue, only a short skip and jump from the hotel. Which is lucky because you’ll probably be two dance moves away from becoming cripple by the end of the night so you won’t have to walk very far.

Since taking the local house scene by the throat and giving it a good shake back in 2006 for their remixes of Claude VonStroke’s “The Whistler”, The Aston Shuffle have developed a cult following amongst the club going scene.

A regular feature on the Ministry of Sound annuals, the two were also named #1 DJs according to music scoreboard par excellence inthemix.com. We pretty much have something from the team played on high rotation in the office every summer.

Now, the duo raises the bar once more and reveals the second single from their upcoming sophomore album, the emotive summer smash, Tear It Down.

Written and recorded in the depths of the London winter earlier this year with long-time collaborator Styalz Fuego and Ivor Novello award-winning, Golden Globe and Grammy-nominated Amanda Ghost (Florence & The Machine, Beyoncé, Scissor Sisters), Tear It Down is a warming, feel-good house jam, plain and simple. Charming Rhodes chords and soulful vocals pull you in, and the brooding, building beat just doesn’t let go ‘til it’s done.

To celebrate, The Aston Shuffle will be debuting their new live show! Rolling out across a select number of dates across the country this coming February with the support of synth-pop newcomer, Thief, the shows mark their first live appearances in over a year, and most certainly label them as one-to-watch in 2014!

Elsewhere Bar is located at 23 Cavill Ave, Surfers Paradise
