Beau in the woods

Feb 28, 2013  ·  2 min read

If you live in the Brisbane area you may already be keenly aware of the stylistic presence that is Kylie Ellis. Kylie owns the incredibly well-dressed boutique, Chasing Bow, which has been a haven for the fashionably aware for more than three years now. For those who didn’t know about Kylie or her store – now you do. Shop there.

It seems that 2013 is turning into a big year for Kylie, with the launch of a new website and her own label, Beau In the Woods. To create her line, Kylie has combined her own design skills with those of her father, photographer Col Ellis. Kylie has laser printed Col’s hauntingly beautiful images on to her own fabrics. The result is a walking, moving and living David Attenborough-esque collection of garments.

For the more eerie at heart, check out the Bow Tie Shirt Dress. The image that was used was taken from Duffield’s Grave after the Black Saturday Bushfires. There is a certain post-apocalyptic slash prophetic feel to this dress, particularly in light of the current number of fires tearing up the country as we type.

Secondly, check out the Lightning Series – a lightweight, short-sleeved coat in two prints that captures bolts of lightning during an Australian storm.

For more information on Beau in the Woods, head Kylie’s website here.
