The annual Gold Coast Art Prize and all it’s cultural glory is about to launch this coming Saturday, December 7 and this year is looking bigger than all that have come before.
Now in its 45th year, the popular Gold Coast Art Prize provides an opportunity to showcase excellent contemporary art practice from across Australia.
The prize is open to all Australian artists working in any art media except photography. There is a total of $30,000 for acquisitions.
This is a fantastic opportunity to see the work of Australian artists from all over the country competing for one of the nation’s top art prizes. A full portfolio of mediums means that you will be able to experience a unique selection of art that ranges from video, installation, painting and digital works in one of the best galleries that Australia has. To say that we are rather proud of the event is a complete understatement.
This year’s judge for the event is Chris Saines who works as the Director of Queensland Art Gallery / Gallery of Modern Art. A highly respected gallery director with over 30 years’ experience, Saine’s worked for eleven years at Queensland Art Gallery in curatorial and managerial roles. Let’s hope that we can telepathically convince him to pick the one we’ve put our odds against.
The Gold Coast Art Prize will open at The Arts Centre Gold Coast on Saturday, December 7 and will run until February 9, 2014.
