Official WebsiteOur favourite bunch of folk rockers are coming! That’s right, Cloud Control, those elves of the South, have announced a fresh batch of tours that will see them bringing their particular kind of magic in a number of venues along the Gold Coast starting this Sunday, April 13.
The tour comes after a blazing finish to 2013 which saw the release of their latest studio album, Dream Caves. An instant hit that even saw them tour North America at the beginning of this year, Dream Cave is a surprisingly accessibly despite being incredibly haunting collection of synth-pop tracks. Personally, for us, half the love comes from the album’s inspiration – a cave in the English countryside was where Cloud Control put the dreamy title track to tape. It’s a strange and wonderful audio journey with memorable songwriting, soaring hooks and expansive instrumentation.
It’s also an exercise in introspection that sees vocalist Alister Wright dissecting his darker side – “I could beat myself down/ You don’t need to bother”, he sings on hymnal lead single ‘Dojo Rising’.
The tour kicks off at one of our own favourite stomping grounds (aside from our very own Stingray Bar of course) Komune Resort in Coolangatta, Sunday, April 13 after which is a whirlwind of back to back performances at Byron Bay, Brunswick Heads and back to the Sunshine Coast for a final show on Thursday, April 17 before heading down to Brisbane. It’ll be a true test of fandom to see who can make it to every show…and yes, we are daring you.
