It’s always a pleasure learning about new Australian designers, especially when we were wearing their label already without even realising it. A recent shopping spree online saw some of the guys here boasting about their new favourite t-shirt and shorts for summer. Synchronicity prevailing, they were all talking about the same label – the Brisbane-based Han.
Cambodian designer, Khim Hang, created his label in order to give men the option for some well-designed and crafted clothing that doesn’t cost the earth. Literally and figuratively, considering the materials he uses are organically sourced wherever possible.
There is an overriding nautical theme to his label, particularly with the emphasis on durability and longevity. Khim also draws upon Japanese minimalist aesthetics in his designs, taking garments down and stripping them to their bare essentials.
Chinos, all-weather jackets and crisp shirts come in a series of staple colours like khaki, navy, beige and black. Khim has made a collection that men can not only wear ever day but in every occasion, the simplicity of each piece keeping it versatile enough to carry you through a lunch on the harbour, afternoon drinks on a rooftop and then your favourite bar (Gilt, obviously) at night.
You can buy the latest S/S collection of Han online from the Grand Social.
