Leather and lace and gold – oh my!

Fashion icons Jennifer Hawkins and Kris Smith took to the runway to launch Myer’s Autumn Winter Fashion at the heritage listed Mural Hall, Myer Melbourne.

Unmissable highlights for the new season include leather, lace detailing, a return to gold and 60’s styling.

Jennifer Hawkins wowed the 350-strong crowd in a series of slinky, sexy, body baring gowns.

A white and black-trimmed tuxedo-inspired Arthur Galan gown, gold sequined backless Manning Cartel dress, intricately beaded sass&bide mini and funky black leather creation from Toni Maticevski were also highlights on the blonde beauty.

Hawkins says leather will be a staple in her winter wardrobe.

“Leather is key, for me it’s one of my favourites,” she says.

“Peplums are also huge, and a great ankle boot is also a winner.”

Statuesque supermodel Alexandra Agostin joined Hawkins and male Myer face Kris Smith on the catwalk for the show featuring more than 150 of the latest looks for the new season.
Lace and leather are two of Agostin’s wardrobe staples for winter too.

“Lace adds a beautiful feminine delicate layer for winter,” she says.

Myer designers including Sarah-Jane Clarke and Heidi Middleton, Toni Maticevski, Arthur Galan, Karen Walker, Yoejin Bae, Jayson Brunsdon and Nicola Finetti joined celebrities including Lauren Phillips, Rebecca Judd, Bridget and Frances Abbott and Melanie Valejo front row.

Masculine met feminine in several collections, none more so than with sass&bide where sharp tailoring was mixed with a relaxed pant and military-style jackets softened with embellishment.

“Heidi and I felt this strong pull between the male and female forms,” sass&bide designer Sarah-Jane Clarke says.
While colour is well and truly present for the new season, most strikingly in emerald, merlot and blue, black and white are key for autumn winter.

Metallics in gold, silver and bronze are also popular.
