Merry Indie Xmas

Nov 28, 2013  ·  1 min read

New York culture hub ANIMAL parodies the “indie Christmas cover” with spot-on results.

The Christmas carol cover has become a predictable holiday treat, and not just from DMX. That’s why the fake album Merry Indie X-Mas — apart from the pitch-perfect stylistic homages — rings so true.

Guitarist Adam Horn, of Brooklyn’s Bear Ceuse, created these covers, parodying the trademarks of indie world favourites Interpol, Beach House, Bon Iver, The xx, Mumford & Sons, Wavves, Gorillaz, Das Racist, and the National. His take on The xx is particularly funny, considering that the band recently covered Wham!’s ‘Last Christmas’.
