“Don’t threaten me with love, baby. Let’s just go walking in the rain” –Billie Holiday
And speaking of holidays, if yours is getting rained out at this time of year, fear not, for there are plenty of fun indoor activities on the Gold Coast to keep you dry and occupied while mother nature does her thing. Here’s what we recommend…
Indoor Rock Climbing (Burleigh Heads)
Just a short drive away at Paramount Adventure Centre in Burleigh Heads, you’ll find one of the best indoor rock climbing centres on the Gold Coast. If the rain has washed away your physical activities for the day, this is an absolute gem. 850 square metres of wall space, 11 meters in height, with graded climbs for beginners through to seasoned climbers. With equipment provided, and purchasable snacks on-site, Paramount has enough to keep you occupied all day.
Strike Bowling (Surfers Paradise)
Only a short, puddle-splashing walk from QT; Strike Bowling Bar is the most funky, adult-orientated bowling alley on the Goldy. With 12 bowling lanes, a banging karaoke room, cocktail bar, pool tables and more, it’s pretty easy to see why Strike has become a Surfers staple. Just remember that Strike is a bar, so if the kids will be accompanying there may be entry restrictions. We would advise you to check the entry conditions on Strike’s site in advance.
Infinity
Another Surfers Paradise classic worthy of a mention is Infinity. This mind bending maze takes you on a journey through several abstract rooms designed to test your senses with optical illusions, abstract theming, sensuous aromas and more. Kid friendly for those over the age of 8, this is an experience for the whole family that must be tried at least once.
