The 4217. Postcode. Bus depot. Boutique Chic?
Whether you’re a traveller or a local, if you’ve caught a bus to Surfers Paradise over the years, you’ve probably experienced the tired old Surfers Paradise Transit Station at one point or another. We won’t lie; eyesore would be an appropriate description for the derelict building sitting idly along the Gold Coast Highway.
However, change doth cometh…
In April this year, the recently renovated and redesigned Surfers Paradise Transit Station reopened its doors for business. Since welcoming the public back with open arms, the revamped depot has become a social hub central to the Surfers Paradise community. Six months later, The 4217 has become a local favourite, well on its way to earning legendary local status.
Known for being a food connoisseur’s paradise, walking through the front doors, you’re quickly overwhelmed with selection…
Hungry? Good luck deciding between handcrafted American style burgers, decadent dogs or BBQ ribs from Brooklyn Depot, artisan bakery goods, the gourmet Italian charcuterie meats and cheeses or sushi and bahn mi station.
Thirsty? Pick your poison – Perhaps a coffee from Paradox Coffee Roasters? They roast daily onsite and source beans from around the world, ensuring an ethical journey from crop to. Or maybe you’d prefer a classic high tea reinvented from Cha Tea Providores.
Guilty? Pack your active wear and visit the health and fitness club… need we remind you summer is coming?
Involvement? The 4217 are on the hunt for creative local & artisan providores to join the 4217 massive. Entrepreneurs, geniuses, chancers and opportunists, anyone looking for a platform to launch a new concept – Stop holding back and get you idea out there.
You have to appreciate what a turnaround this renovator’s dream has become. With such a vast range of options, it’s easy to see why this New York inspired pop-up market has become such a beloved hive of activity for the Gold Coast. As well as being a foodie’s hang out and part of the Goldy’s current coolification, The 4217 promotes art (with murals by Beastman, Numskull, Jae Copp and Fuzeillear) and participates in OzHarvest (the first perishable food rescue organisation in Australia, collecting quality excess food from commercial outlets and delivering it, direct and free of charge to charities).
And the very best part? It’s only a 10 minute walk from QT Gold Coast…
