WE BE GOLD DIGGING

Jul 1, 2013  ·  2 min read

By Benjamen Judd

Australian dance-pop group Gold Fields are coming to Surfers and we are busting out some fluro and our best dancing kicks to celebrate.

Formed in Ballarat back in 2010, Gold Fields are made up of vocalist Mark Robert Fuller, guitarist Vin Andanar, keyboardist Rob Clifton, bassist Luke Peldys, and drummer Ryan D’Sylva and it was their self-titled EP released in 2011 that caught the attention of radio stations and critics alike for its 80’s new-wave influenced dance pop (that is a mouthful that even we had to read a few times).

The band has since been at the centre of some serious whirlwind success, having just returned from a tour of the US that included a spot on the Jimmy Kimmel show and showcasing at SXSW.

Now, Gold Fields have released their debut full-length album, Black Sun, featuring the single “Dark Again” and this is just as catchy, just as fun and maybe a bit more mature as their previous release. To launch the album, Gold Field have confirmed a nation-wide tour which includes a stop over at Surfers on the 5th of July to play at Elsewhere. To say that we are about to pee our pants in excitement is an understatement. To say that we have placed rubber mats all over the floors is closer to the mark.

Gold Fields will play at Elsewhere this coming July 5. To get your tickets, head here.
