Black Screen at the Gold Coast Arts Centre
12 Jul 2014
By Benjamen Judd
If you find yourself wrapped up in our warm beachy embrace this coming July, you should consider spending a day at the Gold Coast Arts Centre to see a collection of some of the best short films you’ll experience this year. For one day only on Saturday, July 12, you can see a collection of groundbreaking work from visionary Indigenous filmmakers.
The National Film and Sound Archive of Australia is the nation’s living archive, collecting, preserving and sharing our rich audiovisual heritage and, as part of NAIDOC week 2014, The Arts Centre has secured a suite of short and feature length Indigenous films through the Black Screen program. Black Screen provides free on-loan access to a collection of Indigenous films for the purpose of community screening events and festivals throughout the year.
The ten films, which run approximately thirteen minutes each, will be shown at The Basement. Patrons can choose to either see the entire suite of films, or one, with several intervals in between. Cost to see the films is free but spaces are limited to book your seat in advance!
Black Screen will be held at The Basement at the Gold Coast Arts Centre on Saturday, July 12.Share this
